Extra Curricular Activities
Staff vs Students Basketball Game
Academics are not the only thing our students participate in at Cedar Lane. We believe that activities can supplement the learning environment. All activities occur during the day, all students are encouraged to participate.
PBIS Events
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) events are designed to give students fun activities for positive behaviors. Students cash in Panther Points to attend events like Kickball, Cedar Cinema and spontaneous events. Parents can track their students Panther Points thru Live School, contact your Case Manager for further information.
Literary Magazine & Yearbook
Cedar Lane students create a monthly newsletter (Cedar Chips) and design the layout of the yearbook. Students write articles, take photos and combine their artistic work collaboratively.
Panther Points
Cedar Lane uses a web application called PBIS Rewards to award students for classroom behaviors, attendance, appropriate electronic device use, and over the top positive behavior. Panther Points are redeemable in the Cedar Store. Parents can track Panther Points on line as well, just ask your child's Case Manager for the link.
Cedar Store
The Cedar Store is located in the cafeteria and is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunch. It is a busy place! Students can "purchase" snacks, Cedar Lane clothing, jewelry, books and other donated items. The students use electronic money which they earn for positive behavior.
Write-a-Thon
A whole day devoted to creative writing. Come join us in the main lobby and let your creative juices flow!
Read-a-Thon
A wonderful day with books, magazines, bean bags, rocking chairs, cookies and READING! This is a student favorite here at Cedar Lane.
SEL (Social Emotional Learning)
Designed to increase a student's awareness of others, SEL happens during Panther Time (4th block) on Mondays. All students share thoughts and feelings and examples from their own life experiences based on a particular topic.
RTL (Return to Learn)
On Black Days, students will go to their RTL period during 4th block. The entire class meets an additional time to catch up on and review assignments. This period is designed to bring a student's grade up by offering direct intervention with their teacher. RTL happens twice a week. See the calendar for the schedule.
