Hello parents - we’ve been receiving questions about how to view students’ schedules, grades, and transcripts, and how to see grades and determine what assignments are missing. To try to help answer those questions, here is some information about SIS (Student Information System, the FCPS student database), where you and your student can find a great deal of information, including:
- Class schedule
- Current grades and missing assignments (see below for more details)
- Course history and standardized test history
- Report card for the current year
- Student and health information
- School information and FCPS links
Students can log into their SIS StudentVUE by going to http://sisstudent.fcps.edu/ and using their FCPS login name and password.
SIS ParentVUE can be accessed through http://sisparent.fcps.edu. If a parent can’t remember their FCPS login information, they can go to that address, choose More Options, and click on Reset Password. You can also create an account from there if you haven’t already. You would have received in the mail an activation key from FCPS that you can use to create your account. If you need a new activation key, complete this form to request assistance. https://itweb.fcps.edu/ParentView/index.cfm
Once in SIS ParentVUE, to see grades and any missing assignments, click on Grade Book in the left-hand column and then click on the name of the quarter (such as “Qtr 1”). That will display a list of all assignments and classwork, including missing ones.
For parents and students to view or open the actual assignments, they would go to the students’ Google Classroom and click on the class. Parents may wish to sit with their student sometimes and have the student open each of their classes in Google Classroom so that the parent can see upcoming assignments, as well as any that are late or still outstanding.
In addition to SIS, FCPS 24-7 Learning (also known as Blackboard) provides parents access to available courses the student is enrolled in, Naviance Student to view College and Academic Career Planning (for Middle and High school students), and weCare@school to view and update Emergency Care information. You must have an active Student Information System (SIS) Parent Account to be able to login to FCPS 24-7 Learning: Parent View. The same login credentials will be used to access both the SIS and FCPS 24-7 systems.
Yearbooks still available
If you did not yet get your Covid19 collector’s edition of last year’s yearbook, there are still a few copies left if you act now! It is $35 for a 72 pages of full color fun. Contact Ms. Blakemore at @email to order your copy.
This information is for Cedar Lane Seniors who plan to Graduate in 2021.
If you wish to have a Senior portrait taken to be included in the Cedar Lane Yearbook, please schedule a date listed below through the toll free number provided. Seniors must schedule this appointment on their own and provide their own transportation to the site of the Lifetouch photography location in Annandale. If Seniors wish to have their photo placed in their base school yearbook, they will need to request that Lifetouch forward the photo to the school, and then check with the school to request their photo be included in that base school’s yearbook.
There are currently no plans to have a Senior Photo Day at Cedar Lane School due to the current distance learning situation. Please contact me, your case worker, or your clinician, if you have any questions about Senior photos.

Library Books Available
As part of the One Fairfax initiative, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, Fairfax County Public Library (FCPL), and FCPS Library Information Services have partnered in the Library Equity Access Pass (LEAP) pilot program. On October 1, 2020 the LEAP program will go division-wide, providing FCPS PreK-12 students with public library checkout privileges for books automatically, without the need to register for a physical library card. Student names and ID numbers will be provided to FCPL through an automated data download. Families who do not wish to participate should have selected the opt-out for LEAP in the 2020-21 SR & R document.
Participating in the LEAP program provides:
- The ability to checkout up to three public library books at a time. At any FCPL library branch, students or parents simply share their name and indicated they are an FCPS student. A virtual account exists and identification is not required.
- Lost or overdue books will not be charged a fine or replacement fee. However, only three books can be on an account at a time.
- Checkouts are limited to physical books. eBooks and public library digital resources cannot be accessed through this account. Students are welcome to establish a standard public library card for full access.
The Fairfax County Public Library is open for Express services and offers curbside checkout.

COVID-19 Vaccinations Available for Ages 12 and Up
As our community strives to achieve herd immunity, vaccinating children ages 12 and up is a critical step towards achieving that goal and will help to keep our schools healthy places to learn. We encourage everyone 12 years of age and older to get the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. Many locations offer same-day appointments, and some even have walk in availability. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or another adult at all community vaccination sites.
Parent Technology Help Desk
The Parent Technology Help Desk will continue to support parents and students through the summer months. The number is 1-833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS). It will be answered by staff from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
