It's a Great Day at the Lane!
10 Reasons Cedar Stands Out
Cedar Lane is a public day high school school serving students in grades 9 through 12. Cedar students have access to the supports that they need in order to ensure they are able to meet and exceed their goals in high school and in the years afterward. Take a look some of what makes Cedar such a uniquely supportive learning environment.
Innovative and Progressive Teaching and Curriculum for Students with Disabilities
Our teachers design lessons to engage students through hands-on learning experiences. From taking honors level courses to life skills training to creative arts, our programs are tailored to meet the diverse needs and interests of our students; promoting both academic and personal growth.
Post-Secondary Transition Programs
Cedar Lane is committed to preparing students for life beyond high school. Our post-secondary transition programs focus on independent living skills, vocational training, and college readiness, ensuring that students are equipped for a successful future.
Increased Access to Clinical Support
Cedar Lane provides students with access to social and emotional supports in order to help them process situations and events while remaining focused on their academic goals. Our clinicians work with students to help them develop the tools and strategies that will ensure their ability to face and move past challenges that arise in and after high school.
Building-wide PBIS Program
We celebrate the diverse backgrounds and abilities of our students through cultural events and awareness programs. These initiatives promote understanding and respect, enriching our school community and teaching valuable lessons about diversity and inclusion.
Small School with an Inclusive Learning Environment
Cedar Lane School prides itself on fostering an inclusive atmosphere where every student feels valued and supported. Our dedicated staff works tirelessly to ensure that all students have access to tailored educational resources and opportunities.
Family Engagement Initiatives
We believe that family involvement is crucial to student success. Cedar Lane hosts regular family events to strengthen the home-school connection and provide resources for families to support their children’s growth.
Community Partnerships
Cedar Lane has established strong partnerships with local organizations and businesses, providing students with valuable internship opportunities and real-world experiences. These collaborations help students develop essential job skills while fostering connections within the community.
Access to the Arts
Cedar Lane students participate in unique showcases of their artistic talent. Students have the opportunity to develop museum-quality exhibitions for the annual Halloween “Showcase of Fear”, to perform musical pieces with their peers (and some teachers) at the winter and spring musical showcase, and to demonstrate their artistic talents in a plethora of other ways here at Cedar Lane.
2023-24 Intramural Basketball Champions
Cedar Lane’s basketball team plays in a league with other schools in the Northern VA region. Coach Jackson and his team brought the championship trophy home to Cedar Lane last season and are excited to do the same this school year!
After-School Clubs and Programs
Cedar Lane offers a variety of sports and programs, encouraging students to stay active and healthy. Our dedicated coaches and volunteers help students develop teamwork skills and enjoy the benefits of physical activity in a supportive environment. This includes, but is not limited to basketball team, esports, art, sewing, boxing club, and dance movement.
